Full Version: Using the NerdSeq with another Sequencer

Proud owner of a new NerdSeq and really loving it, I just had some simple questions:

Can it accept program changes (I want to use it with a Vector for scene and part changes)

I see that it can send changes (Would that be done via midi?)

And then one more that I know there’s just something small that I’m missing

How do I change the velocity or pitch on a retrig say on a snare from low to high or to make like a dropped ball effect where it starts slow then speeds up.

Cheers and thanks!
Welcome!!

Lets get into your questions:

Program Change is indeed a Midi command and can be send through the PC column in a Midi track. (In the coming version also additional from the FX columns)

Program Changes from Midi are not supported at the moment. Basically because a Program Change message is too limited to be able to select tracks and patterns on the sequencer screen (which is the basis of NerdSEQ sequencing arrangement).
I actually don't know what Vector is capable of. It is possible though via the 4 CV inputs to select, start and stop rows and columns from the sequencer screen.

Are you talking about modular or about the samples?
Hey thanks for the response, I don’t mind using the NerdSeq as the main sequencer, I just want to be able to move forward on the scenes and parts of the vector as well, I’ll dig into the manual on that and see if I can’t figure it out Smile

As for the velocity question I mean for modular not the internal samples, I’m currently reading and rereading the manual as well, this weekend I’m gonna take a a deep dive into the it but I just had these questions rattling around in my skull Smile

OK, so there is no 'dropped ball' command. You would need to build that yourself.
I would say you use glides to glide to the wanted pitch and probably change it's speed on the fly.
Also for changing retriggers you could just use different retrigger values per step or if you want to have it finer, use one or multiple tables for that.
Velocity is something you would need to patch yourself with an VCA. And the CV/MOD outputs can generate the 'flows' then.
