Full Version: Trouble sending midi out through TRS-A expander

I just setup the trs midi expander for the first time. I'm able to use the midi in without a problem but I can't seem to get the NERDSEQ to send midi. I've tested the cables and my midi interface seems to work fine with other units/signals. When connecting nerdseq to ableton I get an error and it says ext. sync has been turned off.
I have the midi clock out setting in the "on" position. Is there another setting that is important for this to work? I'm sure I'm missing something simple but I can't figure it out.
Are you using the original cables with it (when using the din midi plug) and did you test both outputs (when not in thru mode)?

Yeah. I'm using the original cables that came with it plus I've tried several other din-trs cables that I have. All of the cables I have work fine with other units performing the same connections without problem. I've checked both outputs and neither are sending. Don't think I have a compatible ribbon cable lying around to test that one.
Next step in tests would be to check voltages I suppose.

Can you also check if the IN is routed to the thru output when that is selected?
It doesn't look like the thru is passing anything from the IN either. I'm using MIDI-OX to check this. Sending data from MIDI-OX to Nerdseq midi channel 1 - track 8 input, I can play samples using my keyboard. Sending from the bottom out/thru jack into a midi router with status lights and into my computer where I can monitor input signals in MIDI-OX. Neither the status lights on the router or MIDI-OX show any signal. If I take that same trs and plug it into my modded Volca FM's midi out I immediately see the status light flickering and MIDI-OX showing scrolling timing clock signal.

The switch is set to the thru position I assume?
I will send you a pm
