Full Version: [solved] 2HP MIDI expander no output?

Hi folks!

I've got a 2HP MIDI expander and until now I used it only to input/record notes via MIDI keyboard which works fine.
Recently I tried to set it up to trigger drums/samples in my Bitbox micro but wasn't successful. There seems to be no MIDI output at all.

I'm using the latest FW 1.26.
On boot the expander seems to be detected.
MIDI in works.
The first strange behaviour I encountered was that in the Track Assign menu I could assign tracks only to MIDI channel 1, no matter if I tried it on MODULAR or SAMPLE tracks. (The screenshot in the manual suggests otherwise)

I also tried every possible cable/adapter combination (simple stereo mini jack cable and TRS A and B adapters on both ends of a known-good MIDI cable) plus another hardware synth with MIDI in to completely rule out the Bitbox.
Both, the synth and the Bitbox happily receive MIDI from other devices.

Did I maybe miss an option setting up the NerdSeq? Or could my expander be faulty?

Cheers,

Try the original cables and I assume you use the out port (or the thru but switched to out).
And with the bitbox you definitely need an a-b adapter.
The midi channel on a midi track can be changed in the track setup.
uuuuhhh thank you very much for the quick reply - it's working now! Big Grin

I got confused with my jumble of unlabeled MIDI- and DIN-TRS adapters... and unfortunately the Bitbox manual states that the micro works with both, TRS A and B connections, which is definitely wrong.
Thanks for clearing that up.

Cheers!
