Hi,

i got my trigger expander today and so far I found it to be very straightforward to use. There are a few things that I haven't been able to figure out though:
In the pattern screen, I can access triggers 1-8 while in the drum overview screen (= drum matrix) all 16 are directly accessible.
How do i access the upper half from the pattern screen ?

And while it is possible to use both screens - is the idea to use the overview screen for drum programming and use the pattern screen for 'non-standard' triggers ? Accessing the upper half there would of course also be sweet.

Anyway, thanks a bunch for this awesome gear ! Now I can finally use all of my vermona drm with it.
Hey,

you can only access directly 8 because there is not more memory to get all 16 columns in there. Anyway, you can go to the track settings and enable swap, then you have access to the triggers 9..16. You could use 1..8 on one track and 9..16 on another track for example. But there is only space for one of the parts for each track!
Still you can also access all 16 triggers also from the FX columns, so they are still enough possibilities to add non-standard triggers for all.

And yes, the idea is to use the drum-matrix for the regular drum triggers and the non standard triggers can overrule these for the special stuff.
Great, thanks for the explanation - I had missed the "swap outputs" setting in the track setup screen on page 57 of the manual.
Haha...sorry for that many pages....but there us much to tell :-)
i have a few questions!

is there a reason why trigger probability doesn't affect the drummatrix? it only seems to affect the trigger section.

also - is there any way to MIDI record into the trigger section of the pattern instead of the drummatrix? ie just triggers 1-8 or 9-16

must say i love the triggers expander!

Hmm...i don't know why. I should add it. So what would be the best here, because i have 4 probabilities i can use and these are mapped to 1-2, 3-4, 5-6, 7-8.
Should i map these as well to the drum-matrix in the same way? (also if swapped then 9..16) I think that should be the easiest and most common way then.

Also for midi recording. Sure, now the drummatrix is mapped only, but i will add the trigger columns as well before or behind the 16 midi notes that are used for the drum-matrix.

Both in the new release.
Would it be possible to set a probability for the triggers that is evaluated individually per track? So it's not all or nothing when determining chance.

No that would be too much setup. I think the current approach is good enough. 2 Triggers share the same probability. And then you can swap on another track, you can have probability on the other ones. And also, you can have 3 additional triggers in probability (per track) when using from the FX column. That should be more than enough. Everything else would be too much to set up and i think it's not worth the effort.

Yeah I would expect probability to be mapped to the drummatrix 1-8 - so that the behaviour works for the whole pattern, regardless if you're using the trigger columns or the drummatrix.

As for MIDI recording into the trigger colums, using 8 notes before or after the 16 already used for drummatrix would be so cool!!

Thank you!!

Just in case I didn't explain that well - I meant setting probability for the entire set of drum tracks with one FX command, but the chance would then be evaluated separately for each track, so if you had all 16 firing together, each one would have an independent chance to trigger, instead of once chance fx having the same effect on all 16.

(This is me having no idea how it works on the back end, and I think your approach of setting it in pairs is a great solution)
