I'm looking to create Aphex-style drums. Is the best way to use tables?

I've watched videos, but haven't used tables yet, could someone explain how I would program a drum loop with ratchets using a table?

Thanks

for "drill" kind of ones the best way is inserting real notes in pattern and work with high speed, because you would like to work within step's resolution and would like to keep all control over drills (microrythms, volume, pan etc.). One Nerdseq pattern is 64 steps long. It gives you 4 steps with resolution 16. Set Tempo around 400 BPM and go for it.

of course, as you see, patterns will became very short and to achieve something what develops musically - chains of patterns will be long.

perhaps, you can try tables as your highspeed engine of your not-so-highspeed patterns, but it is already third level of menu where you will dive for those tables if you would like to edit them
