Upcoming Midi-USB → Adds midi USB
Posted by: makz - 05-28-2020, 09:26 AM - Forum: NerdSEQ Expanders - Replies (2)

because of the covid19 crisis and having no gig I was thinking it might be a good time for me to switch to nerdseq drum sequencing (I have had the trigger16 since its launch but dont use it, I rely mostly on a wmd metron at the moment). Obviously if I do so I would be interested in connecting a launchpad to keep a tactile feel (mostly for muting and other performance oriented stuff) my question is should I just buy the standard midi expander (6hp and doesn't work with the latest launchpads that are smaller which is a big selling point to me) or should I wait for this Midi USB upcoming expander ?
So to take the decision I would to know :
is there an ETA ?
how many hp ?
will it feature midi on a 3.5 stereo jacks (like bitbox, arturia stuff...) ?

Answers I would like to hear :
- june !
- 4 ! (so i can squeeze another crosscaler or OR module)
- YES in & out !

  Midi recording question
Posted by: shankzz - 05-28-2020, 12:49 AM - Forum: General Questions - No Replies

I am trying to use the midi recording feature by setting 'Midi Channel 1' to 'Track 1 Input' in 'Record Setup'. This works as indicated in the manual, but I have the following questions:

1. Why is polyphonic recording not supported in this mode, but only supported in 'Track 1 Record' mode? It would be really useful to support polyphonic input in this mode as well, on midi tracks.

2. In this mode, I have to manually advance the cursor to capture the next note. Is it possible to advance the cursor automatically once the note release is detected?

I am not using the 'Track 1 Record' mode as I am not good at playing live to key in what I want.

Send BRK from one channel to another..
Posted by: Blogic12 - 05-28-2020, 12:02 AM - Forum: Feature requests - No Replies

when playing with groove its easy for patterns to fall out of sync with each other when you might not want them too.
it would be really nice if there an effect to send a BRK to another channel/pattern. this way, if you have one track that has a lot of odd groove stuff going on it can still get reset and keep sync with another pattern in another channel.
is there any way this could happen, or if not if there's another solution for this?

Sample Track Groove max value 31
Posted by: Barney Rubble - 05-26-2020, 05:58 PM - Forum: Beauty and less important bugs/glitches - Replies (1)

Hi Thomas  seems sample tracks do not go up to 32 but 31 groove values only.

  Video Out Expander Status/Release Window?
Posted by: OldManZero - 05-26-2020, 03:55 AM - Forum: NerdSEQ Expanders - Replies (2)

I saw the live stream the other week and heard your discussion of the video out expander.  I was wondering if you had any idea what time frame the expander may be released?  I was wanting to make a few basic videos regarding the Nerdseq but I'm having issues getting a good screenshot to capture via camera such that I can still see it enough to hit the buttons and navigate the screens easily.

Just curious if this is coming out just around the corner or if it is maybe a year off?

All Sounds Off Behavior for CV Expander 05
Posted by: skybox - 05-25-2020, 11:38 PM - Forum: Beauty and less important bugs/glitches - Replies (4)

A curious behavior I found exclusively with the 05 out is that after I pressed Shift + Stop x2 to stop all sounds, instead of dropping to 0v, Out #05 outputs to ~4v.  I caught this when using 05 for an envelope and Shift + Stop x2 would open the VCA.

I tested this on all other outs, and they all behave as expected.

Rainbow CV Expander - Two Requests
Posted by: skybox - 05-25-2020, 08:42 PM - Forum: Feature requests - No Replies

If at all possible, I would love that if NerdSeq could check what was the last type of value used on a per-column basis.

For example, if column 01 was a note, 02 was an envelope, etc, the next time I go back to that specific column it would remember I last entered a note on this column, so it would start at C-0, or if the last value above was envelope, it would start at ^10, etc.

Right now I am always starting with Note C-0 and having to shift+ok cycle frequently when working between multiple columns in one instance.  Shift+Up helps, but only when I'm working on one specific column at a time, and if I move over to a different one it copies the previous value from the other column, so more Shift+OKing is required.

I understand that any column can be any of these values, so it makes sense to have you always start from default, but I think this adjustment could improve speed of workflow when working on the fly while the pattern is running.

The second request is for a way to set up an autogate function for Note values.  The idea would be able to assign a CV Ex out (OFF, then 01 to 16)  in the Patch section along with GLC, GLS, MOD.  In this case it NerdSeq doesn't care what the current value is, just to trigger the out and it would just use the last used value, so it doesn't necessarily have to be an envelope, for really interesting results.

Ideally, you could also assign an autogate via Patch section when a Local CV is assigned to a CV Expander column too. Big Grin

For more complex scenarios, you could also add this autogate option to envelope's patch section to fire at the end of release, for really cool cascading effects (or loop the envelope if set to itself).

The LFO needs easily selectable time division / multiplication based on the clock.

So you select 2x 4x 6x 2/ 4/ etc.

This is exactly how it works under the Nerd Menu for track clock.

This would allow quick and easy selection of time division of LFOs based on clock.

  LFO clock divided / mult

I can’t get the LFO to either multiply or divide by the clock. It’s either on the clock or with the other settings it just stops.

I have read the manual on this but not gotten anywhere.

Also watched all of the tutorials by the Italian guy on YouTube.

  Track calibration
Posted by: pmarchitect - 05-25-2020, 02:42 PM - Forum: General Questions - Replies (1)

Some of my oscillators respond differently to 1/v octave input. Meaning that middle C is an octave or two different from another one.

The calibration menu looks extremely complicated. Is there an easy way to calibrate tracks in octaves?

The goal here is to be able to use the same patterns across multiple tracks and to have the oscillators play the same notes as each other. So just transposing in the sequencer won’t work for this.
