Firmware V1.18 C - XORadmin - 02-18-2019

I'm happy again to finally present you a new Firmware release V1.18 with many new features, improvements and some fixes.

This was a unplanned update, but as the expanders took longer than expected i decided to release it already.

Some important information before you update:
- make a backup of your SD Card and especially of your projects
- Old Projects from V1.17 and older can simply be loaded with the new version. Projects are not full downward compatible. So they might be some oddities if for expample saved with V1.18 and loading it with V1.17.
- All projects saved with the V1.18 release candidates are full compatible with the new version!

Here is a list of all the changings, in case you didn't check the Release Candidates yet:
  • Fix for the case when loading another project while one was playing which could cause a 1 BPM tempo. Sequencer stops now when loading another project.
  • fixed bug in tables where a table in track 6 could cause trigger 1 to trigger
  • changed in MOD column instead of using OK to switch between note and MOD values. Need SHIFT+OK from now
  • Added prelisten function for MOD column now using the OK button. If both MOD - note and Note are filled in, then 2 notes can be prelistened.
  • Bugfix: Delete marked Trigger changed MOD values next to it
  • Bugfix: Midi recording if note on and off was on same step, then now a trigger of F0 is filled in instead of a note-off
  • Added: Sample preview (In sample browser SHIFT + LEFT for output 7 and SHIFT + RIGHT for output 8, press again to stop pre-listening). Also very long samples (as in 'minutes') can be previewed, and that all also while playing (Is overruling the current sample track).
  • Added: Preview of already loaded sample slots (SHIFT + LEFT for output 7 and SHIFT + RIGHT for output 8)
  • Bugfix: Basenote from patches works now
  • Added: Patch to FX columns
  • Added: Table to FX columns
  • Updated: Patches always update all inserted values for local CV/Gate tracks
  • Fix: BPM display matches the actual timing now.
  • Updated: Live change values when editing patches removed
  • Updated: Removed support for 24bit and 32bit Wavefiles. All standard PCM (non compressed) 8/16 bit Mono/Stereo wavefiles are supported.
  • Added: DINSYNC Clock input (through clock and reset input)
  • Added: Note plays when holding OK button and walking up/down -> Plays notes while browsing
  • Added: For samples: Note plays + note browsing as well
  • Added: Compact Sequencer function (SETUP SCREEN) Cleans up unused patterns and releases them again for new use
  • Added: Superslow automator lfo speed mode
  • Changed: Range for LFO better resolution (more fintuning for lower ranges)
  • Added: Record from CV route to outputs directly, so you can hear what you record directly
  • Fixed: Edit was still possible on some places even though edit was turned off
  • Added: If Edit mode is OFF, allow live use of OK button in sequencer screen to temporary jump to the same step of another pattern (SHIFT+OK for the row)
  • Fix: Fixed external start of pattern/row (through Midi or DINSYNC with shift button starts whole row, without shift only the 'selected' pattern)
  • Added: Load / Save sampleblock. Allows to load and save all sample slots into / from a file.
  • Added: Load sampleblock directly from sequencer (LSMP fx command on sample tracks) for 'nearly' seemless replacement of all samples.
  • Bugfix : When deleting marked values in the pattern screen with shifting up and something was filled in in the MOD column, the NerdSEQ could possibly crash.
  • Bugfix : When after power on, playing the first sample + retriggering + probability could cause a crash.

To update the Firmware, put the firmware file (possibly right mouse/ save as) into the firmware folder on the SD-Card (after doing a backup) and on power up (or reset) hold these buttons: SHIFT + COPY + CURSOR_UP until the NerdSEQ enters the Firmware upgrade mode. If it starts booting into the NerdSEQ normally, try again. If it says it couldn't find the SD-Card or any other error: Keep holding the buttons, it will work the next time for sure.
Follow the instructions on the screen to update to V1.18. After updating, check if the new version is V1.18!
In case of trouble, follow the firmware update site:

I will add the firmware to the Website this evening, in case you don't want to register to the forum.

[Image: heart.png]    Now get it, have fun and spread the word!!!    [Image: heart.png]

Peace!

(One last disclaimer: Even though this version was going through a long test period by me and you, i can't guarantee that they are no hidden bugs somehow. If, then i try to fix them as soon as possible of course)
Please be sure before reporting any bugs in this thread that it hasn't been in there in earlier versions. Use the bugreport for that.

* Update to V1.18 A  -   Cleaned up Midi output so only Midi clock is being send. In some cases other data has been sent and caused timing problems on a least one midi gear *
* Update to V1.18 B  -   Bugfix for the Marked delete with MOD values problem *
* Update to V1.18 C  -   Bugfix for the rare situation when playing a sample first (as in first after power on) + retriggering on the same step + probability doesn't play that sample *

This is amazing. Does the live pattern switching function have to be turned on or is it just- on?

same step on another selected pattern. By pressing the OK button (or SHIFT+OK for the whole
row) the sequencer will jump directly to the pattern where the cursor points to. Be aware that the
sequencer will still jump to the pattern that was suppose to play next after the ‘direct-jump’
pattern/s has been finished."

RE: Firmware V1.18 - uniquepersonno2 - 02-19-2019

Having a bit of an issue with MIDI clock on this one, it sounds as if it sometimes skips sending a clock out so things clocked by MIDI from the nerdseq sometimes get out of rhythm.

Hey. I just tested this and had the Digitone running synced by NerdSEQ Midi. I don't have any issues, i'm still full in sync after 1,5 hours continious running, even changing the BPM to 300 in between. No loss at all.

Maybe it is related to your project? Also you didn't have these issues with V1.17?

Edit: 2 hours now ;-)

RE: Firmware V1.18 - uniquepersonno2 - 02-21-2019

Interesting. I'm only clocking the ES Drum Sequencer with it but I'm having lots of issues, didn't have any before updating. It seems to happen most when starting the clock initially.

Hmmm...investigating....
I made a test-version for uniquepersonno2 and lets wait for the results. I can't reproduce it unfournately.

RE: Firmware V1.18 A - XORadmin - 02-21-2019

I just updated to V1.18 A to fix the Midi clock issue with the ES Drum Sequencer (and maybe other midi gear).
Still couldn't reproduce it but could isolate the issue thanks to uniquepersonno2.

RE: Firmware V1.18 A - loik73 - 02-22-2019

i feel stupid but for me the update process don't work , i try for almost one hour and it never show ,i did the key combination but it always start directly with the V1.17 ?
(and yes i copy the new downloaded firmware on the Sd card)
is there something i forgot or is there an other way ?
thank you
