I2C Expander - XORadmin - 10-30-2019

On request of many people and especially ER-301 users i intergrated I2C functionality into the NerdSEQ.

If you don't know what it is, it makes it possible to control other modules without using patchcables. Sounds rather limited, but just imagine that you can control more functions at the same time than they are patch inputs. Or you don't lose multiple outputs if you want to control multiple features.

This is still of course a prototype, but it seems to work well. I included the drum-matrix to control via I2C now, but of course much more is possible.

A simple insta-video below:

In the middle the expander prototype which is connected to the ER-301 through 3 simple lines on the backside.

This is incredibly exciting!

Best news I've heard in a while! Can't wait to use this expander. thanks.

Wow you are absolutely on fire with these developments of the Nerd, both hardware and software!
As an ER-301 user myself I couldn't ask for a better sequencer for my system I'm and very glad I made this choice.
Very well done indeed, I hope this system grows in success for you.

Got NerdSeq, got ER-301, this is fantastic news. Shut up and take my money.

RE: I2C Expander - skybox - 11-02-2019

Would this work with Squid Salmple? I'm told it has i2c and I would kill to be able to control it without the mess of cables required to patch it w/NERDSEQ.

If it supports I2C i don‘t know why it shouldn‘t.
I need one though to test it Smile

Me too! I'm on the verge of getting one in the next few weeks. But thinking about all the extra modules I need to get it to behave the way I want it to with NSEQ makes my head spin haha

RE: I2C Expander - XORadmin - 11-02-2019

Oh no promises. I will focus on the ER301 for now and that will cover already a few others.
Or, i focus on the release and other expanders first. :-)

i got one last week! got the trigger 16 for use with it. very curious about this i2c thing now...
