Not sure what you mean and I don‘t know what tiptop is using.
This is a production device, not a prototype.

I just mean the older tiptop modules used to use similar 3.5mm jacks with the black plastic receptacle. I did not appreciate them. Is there a reason for the switch on the i2c expander?

Oh I see. Yes the reason is that this is the only way to keep galvanic separated for the Midi port when using an aluminium Frontpanel. Thats why the 2HP Midi is only available with a PCB Frontpanel.

For the I2C port it doesn’t matter but for the Midi Port it is the only way to keep the specs.

Ah ok totally understood. I appreciate the explanation!

RE: I2C Expander - Friend of Dogs - 05-28-2023

are there by chance pins for midi on the back? I have an audio interface module (Befaco AC/DC) with 3 pins for midi expansion on the back.

Nope, they are only on the front. And the signals on the Befaco AC/DC are the TTL midi signals and can't be used for isolated (standard) midi signals without an optocoupler etc.

Hello, how is the testing coming along? Has the i2c expander module gone to testers yet? So exciting : D

No but the units are being prepared as we speak and will leave by the end of the week or latest next week.

Amazing! Thanks for the quick reply; I imagine you have plenty of testers lined-up but if you need another don't hesitate to let me know : )
