Got it, thanks! I think I asked the question incorrectly, what you've described is what I want to do (use the CV16's own CV resources like LFOs or Envelopes or just set voltages without using a track for it).
I may end up using a track for it anyways though. I'm thinking I could use it like a version of the noise engineering mimetic digitalis (I have one and like it) but on steroids.. 64 steps x 4 channels of random CV by generating random notes across a constrained range, but also the ability to drop in random notes on set steps, potentially skip triggers on steps etc, and if I hit on something perfect I can just copy the pattern for later and keep going. Or tie some of the random values to input CV to keep it evolving. Hours of fun..Well this is what it does. You can fully control and use the CV16 LFO and envelopes without ever assigning a track.
