As the eurorack format is generally a "plug anything to anywhere" system, can plugging a CV signal to the I2C jack cause damage? I occasionally allow people to play with my system and I'm thinking of covering the front panel I2C jack.
The inputs are protected but in general it wouldn't do harm to cover it. I was actually searching for covers but couldn't find them, else they would have been on there by default.
Ok, thanks. I'll let you know if I find something suitable. Will use a cut red cable for starters, but that looks bad.

Google for "earphone dust plug" or "3.5mm dust cover".

Does that mean you found something suitable, perhaps on a well known online store?

I did find something, but not at a well known online store :-) Amazon.de returns a few options with the search "3 5mm headphone anti dust". Need to omit the decimal separator for some reason. There are packs of 100pcs. No idea about the quality though.

Multi-IO arrived! Thank you Thomas for throwing in some DuPont cables with the order; this helped me get i2c up and running without needing to purchase/research anything else.
That said, I’d like to make use of the front facing i2c 3.5mm jack for convenience. I’m in the US and can see that Michigan Synth Works sells a cable that would work for this:
https://michigansynthworks.com/products/...c-cable-15
If I don’t want to DIY, is this likely my best option? Anyone know of anyone else making/selling these things in the US?
Thanks for any info

This seems like the best safe option for sure and it supports also the community .

Good point; ordered!
Last question-- the edit encoder on my expander is loose/wobbly and there is a soft "click" or bump if I press down on the knob. For comparison, I'm using the Klavis CalTrans and NE Sinc Iter eurorack modules which have endless encoders that are very firm (i.e. the posts don't move if I nudge them with a finger) and have a hard "click" when pressing on them, which operates as a button press.
The Midi-IO knob seems to work fine, but I'd just like to know if it is meant to feel loose or should it be firm like my comparison modules?
Thanks

It’s not a button but only an encoder. What do you mean with wobbly? Is the shaft wobbly? The encoder is one with the longest shaft available which is also needed, that might be the difference to other modules.
The cap is just pressed on the button but shouldn’t be too lose.
