Octave Transposing over Midi

I’ve been using the midi expansion to record sequences from my ipad which I’m connecting with a Roland um one cable.

Everything connects fine, but whatever I play (and subsequently record) is transposed up one whole octave by the nerdseq.  Can’t see anything in the settings and I have tried using a blank project on the nerdseq but still the same issue.

I have also tried a number of different sequencers on the iPad but all have the same issue, I predominantly use Xynthesizr though.

Any ideas if this is a bug or something I’m doing wrong.

i don't think you are doing anything wrong. The point is, if you play (or record) the note C on octave 4 via midi, then it will insert indeed the C in ocvate 4 (C-4) and will play a C-4 on the CV outputs which is 4 volt. (Assuming C-0 is 0 volt and 1V/Oct, which is normal used.).

There is no octave setting for the Midi input. But it seems to me that it might be very handy. The only issue is that all notes in the lowest octave for example (C-0...) couldn't be recorded, as there are no negative Notes and Note scales don't support negative voltages usually.

Maybe setting your Oscillator one ocatve lower is a possibility, too.

Oh ok, i see.

NerdSEQ begins with C-0 for Midi note 0  (as in Data 0).

I think it makes sense to add a offset function so the user can decide himself which note to play.
On my 2do list.

For now, you can simply mark the pattern content and transpose all an octave down after recording.

No, you mark parts from your pattern (eg the notes) and then you press SHIFT+NERD.
The Nerd menu gives you then some options as transposing and more.

It's not a setting. It's manipulating your pattern content.
