Using the note mode on the launchpad is such a cool feature, and being able to swap between playing notes and controlling the patterns is great for performance.
I like to keep midi input enabled on a bunch of tracks then change the midi channel on the launchpad when in note mode, then I can jam along with any of the tracks (sounds) I like. When I want to record one I just enable record on the track I want. Easy!
I'd love to be able to trigger different samples on tracks 7&8. It would be cool if each row on the launchpad triggered a different sample slot and the buttons across played different pitches (or maybe volumes?).
It would need some kind of note map and I don't know what is planned for the midi side of sample tracks yet, so just an idea anyway.
A delete function (both for removing events AND patterns if that's still being considered) as well as delete during recording (table key) on the launchpad would be really useful.
Also a way to make new patterns on the launchpad would be great. Maybe just an OK shortcut might be useful in general.
I highly recommend using the launchpad as a dedicated controller, it was a great choice of device and already opens up the Nerdseq's functionality nicely. Thanks

Big wishlist (and with some stuff i am not sure if they are wished or if they describe current features).
Lets see:

Yes, sounds like something you can do already. Just change the Midi input to record and you are there i think.

The Midi part is already implemented, so you can play samples by pitch, change the sample with program change etc. It is not a Launchpad function but just regular Midi. I'm not sure yet how i want to make the Sample Track integration in the Launchpad. I will continue with it when i go on with the USB expander.

Also here, Note recording is not a Launchpad feature, but a Midi thing. It won't work anyway with Launchpad MK2 and Mini. And my plan is to support everything on these. Thats why the extra buttons on the LP Pro won't be supported.

I aim to keep the sequencer screen on the LP pure for performance (and i wouldn't even know which simple shortcut can be used) I think they are more important shortcuts which could be used. As for the pattern screens, yes, to edit here is of course cool and i will keep on working with that.
But it will make much more sense once the USB Expander is involved.

Sure, the midi recording feature is already there, I thought I would mention how I am using it (now that I understand how midi input works)
Maybe someone else doesn't realize you can do this so worth pointing out. It's a great feature and I didn't think it would be this easy to switch between tracks for playing live.
I forgot there were other launchpad types that don't have all the buttons / features of the Pro. I can totally understand why you would want to support all of them in the same way.
I don't have a Sega controller yet so perhaps that will let me delete and enter things (perhaps when the buttons are programmable).
Of course it's not a problem to do this on the Nerdseq but its nice to be able to do these things with remote control too.
For making or deleting a new pattern a good shortcut could be to press and hold a pad for a few seconds, if the slot is empty it creates a new pattern, if its populated it deletes it.
This might not be possible of course and isn't really a big deal, but it could be very useful.
Thanks for the replies

I will definitely consider things and good ideas are always fine.
Also, before i continue, i will post my ideas as well here, so you all know what it might be and fire against it :-)

Just curious if the launchpad mini mk2 or mk3 will work when connected to the Nerdeq with a midi interface like the iconnectivity mio4? Connected like this: Launchpad usb out <> Mio4 usb host I/O, routed through MIo4 to a din I/O <> the nerdseq.
I have the mio4 and would like to get the small launchpad for faster nerdseq programming.

I don't know it it works. Up to you to test

Edit Reason: Added more details
)
Hi. I'm new to Launchpad. I don't use or have Ableton. I bought a secondhand Launchpad Pro for use with Nerdseq.
I can't get it to work properly.
EDIT: I've finally sorted this.
Switch the Launchpad on WITH the orange MIDI dongles plugged in. Press and hold the Setup button. Press the green button in the top left to switch it in to Live mode.
The shift light is constantly white and it appears to be in some kind of notes mode, with a blue and purple lights on the grid.
I can't figure out how to change away from the Notes mode to see and control my Sequencer patterns.
The LP Pro appears to be connected to Nerdseq correctly because the Session, Note, Device and User buttons toggle mutes tracks 5, 6, 7 and 8. The top two vertical buttons at the right move the Nerdseq Sequencer screen up and down.
Pressing various buttons on the grid was entering some blobs in to some of the positions in a Trigger 16 track.
I can change between some types of note mode (Drum layout, Chromatic) using the Setup button, but none of these seem to let me see and control my Nerdseq Sequences.
I have downloaded Ableton Lite and whilst I am unfamiliar with it, it does appear to be working. I can switch between modes. When I am using it on the computer, it is conecting by USB.
If I unplug the USB cable and press Setup then choose the option of pad lighting MIDI, then the Launchpad seems to be working with Nerdseq. Session, Note, Device and User buttons function as mute toggles, and I can switch steps on and off when I am in a sequence.
If I turn the Launchpad off, it seems to revert to the previous Note mode state and I have to plug it into Ableton to sort it out, again.
I appreciate that this is a Launchpad query, and not a Nerdseq one.
Cheers,
Marizu

I know it was mentioned Trigger16 layout for the Launchpad was subject to change.
I am curious as to what is planned. I have not yet purchased the expander but will get one soon. I have been using the launchpad for triggers on the six native tracks, and I really like that the pattern moves horizontally and that I can see all 64 steps - it makes for very quick entering of drum patterns. I have not yet used the expander, so it is hard to say, but I feel like it would be good if the Trigger16 layout worked similarly.

Would love to be able to use aftertouch for MOD CV, since the Launchpad lacks a pitch wheel.
