FX and FX list improvements
#1
Hi!

I find it a bit tiresome to have to scroll through a list of FX that I know I will never use and therefore I have a suggestion that would improve speed and user experience heaps!

Could we please have the ability to tick on/off the FX we want to have present in the list?

PTCH  [x]
GL C   [0]
MOD   [0]
GLMS  [x]
...

I would go as far as have the same choice for the number of FX column we could have in the pattern view (I haven't gone beyond using just one FX and having the choice to show just 1 or more FX columns would be great IMO that would allow fast access to the groove column which I use quite a lot but a bit of a pain to access)

Thanks for considering this

An alternative option here would be if you are on the far left or far right column, pressing left or right will bring you to the other side. But, still stop at the ends if you are holding left or right.

Basically, if you're on the note column, press left to go to the groove column. If you on the groove column, press right to go to the note column. But, only make the one move. If you hold the button from there, if shouldn't keep scrolling. And, if you are holding left or right (not pressing the direction to swap from note to groove, or, groove to note), it should also stop at the end, rather than round-robining all the way through (so that you won't "miss" the note column or groove column if you're trying to get to those).

I'm not sure I'm explaining this well?

Options on the Note column:
  • Press left and go to the Groove column
  • Hold left and go to the Groove column and don't keep scrolling
  • Press right and go to the Patch column (like it does now)
  • Hold right and scroll through the columns until you release or hit the Groove column (like it does now)
Options on the Groove Column:
  • Press right and go to the Note column
  • Hold right and go to the Note column and don't keep scrolling
  • Press left and go to the FX4 column (like it does now)
  • Hold left and scroll through the columns until you release or hit the Note column (like it does now)
Or. if your on one of the edge columns, a double tap in the direction outside will take you to the other side.
  • On the Note column, double tap left to go to the Groove column
  • On the Groove column, double tap right to go to the Note column

Yeah that could work for column, I wish there was a way of scrolling through FX more efficiently better though ie you'll have to tap 25 times if you need to pass by the CV1..6 TRG1..6 MOD1..6 and ASL0..ASL7! Smile

if implementing a way to tick them on/off from the list is too hard perhaps a way of reordering them? so you could put the ones you don't use that much at the end?

Are you using the faster scroll with shift+up or shift+down rather than the one at a time of shift+left and shift+right?

Oh, no! I was just trying to give an alternate option for moving around if Thomas looked at this and was gonna put it on his 2do list. Personally, I don't like the idea of removing columns, but that's entirely ME and not how other people want to use them. I was just giving some other options on how to quickly get to the Groove column, since you're not the only person I've seen ask about that. And, if the wrap-around from Note and Groove columns was there, it'd also make it fast for me, since I tend to use 3 or 4 FX columns often.  Wink

And, about the FX, I kinda wish I could remove some of them, but the workaround of using shift+up or shift+down exists now and is WAY fasterer!!  Big Grin

The only thing that feels really slow for me right now is in the Automators, setting the speed. Getting up to FFE takes a several seconds. But, I don't know a way that could make that faster other maybe breaking convention and having shift+pgup/pgdown go by larger amounts (like by 400 at a time)? But, that would seem awkward since those are used for other things (muting/soloing).

Great idea, I'd love that! I also never use the other trig and mod fx for other channels, that would save alot of useless scrolling. I could also remove some fx that trigger accidentally when the sequencer is running and I'm scrolling thru fx like jump to pattern or set bpm to 1. It really removes me from the flow to have to stop the sequencer every time I want to add some fx.

Yes! I've flagged a bug that sounds like that: https://xor-electronics.com/forum/showth...hp?tid=582 would love to see that implemented Smile

I've created a feature request a few weeks (months?) ago to avoid this using fx track mutes, the same way you mute tracks in the sequencer. But making those fx configurable would also solve this
