More CV Expander?
#11
Ok, here is my new sketch which i think combines both worlds in the best way.
Since MOD columns can also be notes i will only make combined columns. This will end up like this then:
6x MOD/Note, 3x FX,PATCH,TABLE,GROOVE
So on every step one can decide if a note or a MOD is filled in.
Also one can decide in the track settings which ouput each column should be routed to.

In fact you can have then 9 Notes or 9 Modulations or Mixes of these directly from the columns ( 9 if FX are also used) and anyway, all of it from the patches, per track.

That doesn't sound too bad in my ears/eyes.

So would this mean that to access all 16 CV outputs, I would need to assign two tracks to the expander? (or assign them as FX from other channels).
How many outputs of CV 16 will I be able to change from a single step?

I appreciate that all of this is complex and that you are striving to maintain some continuity across the UX.

I see the answer just a few lines above.
9 if also the FX are used per track.

FX from other channels is not planned.

can't wait for the expander! can you reserve 3 for me? ;-P
i think the CV expander will swallow so many other modulations / make other modules practically redundant
and it will allow me for really complex setups in a really small case :-D

I duess it would be impossible to link 2 16 more cv and one 16 more trigger to get 16 cv, 16 trigger and 16 mods?
In this case you could almost copy the normal screen except the two sample parts. That would be nice, I think.

I can't really follow your idea.
You can indeed connect 2x 16CV expanders and 1 Trigger expander and have 32 CV/Mod/EnV/LFO outputs and 16 Trigger outputs. But they are restricted to the screen fields i mentioned before. So i don't know how copying the screen (which?) would work.
Each got it's own kind of implementation into the NerdSEQ. You don't get any extra tracks, but much more functions and controls to be able to use the expanders.
