I was thinking to do something similar but with a 2hp 3U panel, using TRS for the midi and then skipping on the gamepad port. Maybe even squeeze in a passive mult since there will be a lot of space left.
Nice detail as well to have them detachable via those extra sockets. Taking notes... Smile

It might be possible that the XOR portfolio gets a new little product this year....

Midi-in, Midi-out... What's the top port? 9-pole 3.5mm gamepad adapter? Big Grin

Top = Midi In
Bottom1= Midi Out
Bottom2= Midi Out or thru

But not 100% sure if it is the final design.
I might replace the 2nd output with 2 switches to choose either TRS-A or TRS-B.
TRS-A is the official standard...
What do you think?

Perhaps a jumper on the back of the PCB for TRS-A / TRS-B selection? Seems like something you would not change that often and an extra out or midi-thru is always welcome!

That is the problem. There is zero space left and I try to avoid a 2nd backpack pcb.

Alternatively but perhaps confusing for users expecting the ports to be identical: One TRS-A out, one TRS-B out / thru + one in?

But then the input would be fixed to one of these.

I think i should follow the standard and users need the proper cables if they use incompatible gear.
TRS -> Din adapter cables are planned to be added anyway.

This seems appropriate. Simplifies your implementation. Helps move forward adoption of the standard.

My vote goes to adopting the standard and having that extra out/thru.
