NerdSeq jams
#31
This is my first track with the Nerdseq.
It's on 3/4 and maybe it was a little more difficult because of this. But once I learnt about the Highlight every 6 rows option, I could see my patterns easier.
Also using probabilities was easy to setup, to make the short patterns more alive.

I’ve been subscribed to your channel for a while now and was happy to see that NerdSEQ video pop up in my feed recently. Nice work!

For knowing nothing, you’re off to a very nice start. Wink

I find myself reminded that I currently don’t have any voices with the degree of “macro” as Plaits, and could probably do with at least one.

A question if I may: How much of what’s going on in those patches was you going deep and doing very deliberate fiddly sequence editing to achieve certain momentary sounds versus, for example, randomizing selections of values in search of happy accidents versus applying probability etc.?

Thanks for the sub! Very kind. I am enjoying a lot my Nerdseq. The more I use it the more I like it!

Felt muted piano and modular synthesizer shake hands in this piece. 3 voices from the modular are sequenced using the Nerdseq with semi-random melodies, that are mixed with a muted and dark piano sound in a sound nebula that hides a simple and reflexive melody

I am going to resurrect this thread since I love seeing how other people are using their NerdSeq.

The Nerdseq is really at the heart of this piece. It is sequencing 4 voices of percussion, a melody line, and a chord-pad voice. When the melody shifts away from the "theme" it's switching the sequence to a more random one made from Brain Seed and a trigger pattern wiggled live on the Trigger Man.

Unfortunately with my limited "videography" skills you can't really see how I'm playing the Nerdseq, but it's in the row closest to me on the far end of the skiff.

Technical detailed notes:
-Nerdseq Track1: Arpeggio. Doepfer VCO, Doepfer SEM Filter, Happy Nerding 3xVCA, Xaoc Devices Zadar channel 1, Xaoc Devices Praga channel 1.
-Nerdseq Track2: Bass. Ladik VCO1, Ryo Aperture Filter, Happy Nerding 3xVCA, Xaoc Devices Zadar channel 2, Xaoc Devices Praga channel 2.
-Nerdseq Track3: Melodies in B and C parts. Mutable Instruments Plaits, WMD MMF Filter, Happy Nerding 3xVCA, Xaoc Devices Zadar channel 3, Xaoc Devices Praga channel 3.
-Nerdseq Track4: short chord sample from the Expert Sleepers Disting MK4, Xaoc Devices Praga channel 4.
-Nerdseq Track7: Kick samples from the Nerdseq builtin sampler, Befaco STMix
-Nerdseq Track8: Snare and hi-hat samples from the Nerdseq builtin sampler, Xaoc Devices Praga channel 4.
ALM Pamela New Workout makes all the modulation with synced and unsynced LFOs. Happy Nerding FXAid for reverbs. Mutable Instruments Warps with Parasites firmware for the tape delay.
The whole song is sequenced with the Nerdseq.
The modular audio output is routed through the Synthstrom Deluge, so I can apply the Deluge's LP filter in the middle of the song. A beautiful Vangelis-like lead from the Boards of Deluge soundpack is used in this part.
The upright Kawai piano was recorded in mono with a cheap Behringer ECM8000 omni mic. The piano was heavily equalized and Valhalla VintageVerb was used for reverb.

I recorded a suite of 6 modular ambient tracks inspired in gamelan music from Java and Bali.
This month I begun to read a book synced with a friend. Every week we read a new chapter and we commented and shared thoughts and recordings during the next week. It's being a great experience. The book is Ocean of Sound by David Toop.

This is so good! That piano jam at 14:00 is so beautiful. Just well done.
