[NO BUG] Connected Octatrack stopping by itself
#11
I have not installed the debug firmware yet. But interestingly, I was running my rig and I dropped the BPM from 112bpm to 32bpm. The Octatrack soon stopped, and NOTHING showed up in the midi monitor. Through the course of stopping, starting and running a sequence I will see plenty of events from the Analog Rytm and others. But this stop occurred with nothing appearing in recorded midi events.

Latest experiment: I started a sequence at 32 bpm and then disabled transport receive on the OT. The sequence stopped running within a few minutes, and nothing appeared in midi monitor.

Can you use the test firmware so I can check what is sending out.
Seeing from what I ready until now I guess it is either a bug in the octatrack or your octatrack got an issue. But my logs next to yours can clarify it.

I’ve been meaning to try to repro mntbighker’s tempo change behaviour but yesterday was nutso busy and today may be as well. I should be able to try out the latest 32 bpm / transport receive experiment easily enough, though. I’ll let you know what happens.

Can you give us a rundown of the involved physical MIDI connections? Active/passive splitting, thru jacks or boxes, MIDI processors, etc?

Was disabling transport receive the one and only change? Was/is clock receive enabled? Oh, and what is your TURBO setting?

It was the only change. Clock receive is enabled. I believe Turbo is enabled but not shown as active.

I'll have more time Thurs. - Sun. to tinker.

Latest experiment… ran it at 32 and stopped fairly soon. Ran at 42 and same story. Ran at 52 and after 12 hours no stops.

Here is some stuff from the midi monitor, though I'm not getting stoppages at 52bpm.

This is not data from the NerdSEQ. The NerdSEQ doesn't send SysEx messages except once for the launchpad integration if enabled. And even then, the data is very different to your log.

Given Thomas’ latest reply just above, I’m inclined toward dragging the thread back to this question from a few days ago:

Can you give us a rundown of the involved physical MIDI connections? Active/passive splitting, thru jacks or boxes, MIDI processors, etc?

Nerseq OUT -> Erica midi box IN

Erica OUT -> Intellijel 1U midi IN (currently not used for CV or clock)
Erica OUT -> Disting EX IN (currently not used in any patterns)
Erica OUT -> Octatrack IN (master mix fed through ES-9 to PC via USB, then routed to Motu for monitoring via VCV Rack mixer)
Erica OUT -> Analog Rytm IN
Erica OUT -> Motu IN -> USB-C -> Mac (midi monitor software)

Everything is clocked by Pam's (x24) -> Nerdseq clock/reset IN (Mod.Clock24)
Nerdseq Reset OUT -> Pam's run input
Nerseq Midi clock OUT (DIN-Sync24)

Keep in mind the stoppages exist with nothing but Nerdseq OUT to Octatrack IN.
