Transpose Not Sticking?
#1
Howdy, all!

I've got a track that I need transposed (at least, I think I do - I'll explain that at the end) and so I go into the Nerd menu and transpose as needed.  Everything works great until I stop the track.  Then transpose resets to off.  I'm pretty sure I used to be able to get this top work as needed, but suddenly it's just not working as expected.

As far as thinking I need to transpose a certain track, what I mean by that is this:  I have a certain module that when run through the Nerdseq plays extreme low octaves.  So I transpose it up.  I figure that's what I'm meant to be doing?  I think that is correct because some modules play nice, some need an octave of transpose, some more, some less.  This second bit isn't really all that important, just thought I'd explain in case this bit is messing with the first bit.

Long story short:  Track transpose isn't sticking, I wish it would...

Howdy!

It suppose to stay until you change it again. I will see if I can test it tomorrow. Maybe you can share me your project and point me to a point where it always go wrong?
Which version are you using?

Thanks for your reply.  Project is included.  Nothing special, just a sketch I had started before getting stuck on the transpose thing.

I also tried a fresh project this morning and was unable to get transpose to save.  I will go through the manual and double check to see if I'm doing everything correctly.

Oh yes I get it now.

You got 'Reset FX on stop' enabled and the track transpose settings are being reset there as well.

Different options are possible now:
- disable Reset FX on stop'  (Setup screen)
- make your transposition permanent ( mark the values in the pattern screen and transpose it in the nerd menu, or mark the patterns in the sequencer screen and transpose with the nerd menu.)

You know, it's funny.  I thought it might be the disable reset FX on stop thing, but I second guessed myself because I didn't think of a transpose as an FX.  In my situation it'll probably be best to just disable that feature.

I'll try out the second option as well, see which I prefer.  Thanks for your help!

Yeah... we can discuss of course if the transpose belongs to this FX reset function or not. I forgot that I added it to this....

I'm very new to trackers so I'm not sure what the right option would be.

Thanks again for your help, I look forward to seeing what's in store for the future of the Nerdseq.

I would argue that a transpose is not a FX, but I can see why the opposite argument might be made Smile

However since there are a lot of places that influence transpose and also since transpose isn't selectable through the FX list I find it counter intuitive to reset it via the FX reset function.

Just my 2 ct,
Michael

It's not really a tracker thing. I guess somehow my brain told me some years ago to add this also to the reset function :-)

Added at least on my list to think about it and why the reset function and if, what should be in there and why is transpose not in the FX anyways.....list full Big Grin
