2HP Midi expander
#31
I'd like to play a note on an external keyboard to two NerdSeq's simultaneously. Is it possible to daisy chain the MIDI expanders, so that the OUT of one expander connects to the IN of a 2nd expander?

I've tried using a TRS-A to TRS-A cable without success, so I'm just wondering whether I need another type of cable or if daisy chaining is not possible.

The alternative route I've thought about is the Kenton Thru-5, which would take MIDI from an external keyboard and send MIDI to the two XOR MIDI expanders.

I have this set up and working. Use the THRU on the first expander, rather than the OUT.

Thanks mvdirty! Using THRU works perfectly!

To quickly add a bit for those wondering “But if I use THRU then what about the clocking of the second NerdSEQ from the first?”

I clock the secondary using DIN Sync style 24 PPQN with run/stop via the clock and reset outputs of the primary NerdSEQ.
