Random generation
#1
I know you can already randomise a single value via the nerd menu, but it would be great if you could randomly populate a whole pattern using a button combo. This kind of randomisation is extremely powerful as a compositional tool. If it could also be constrained in various ways that would be useful. This also relies on there being scale-quantisation at pattern level (a feature which I hope is near the top of the to do list).

They are no button combinations available for that, but marking an area and place the randomness is the way to go. Scaling is a different thing and once scaling is included the note randomization will follow the tracks / global scaling rules.

Don’t forget there is the live randomization for FX which can be very powerful.

How do you mark an area and place the randomness?

Check the manual -> Nerd Menu

There needs to be a button combo. Having to enter a separate menu to achieve randomisation is antithetical to the whole workflow of randomisation which relies on hitting random again and again until you get something interesting.

No chance.
But it stays in the menu and you can hit OK again and again…

Can randomization be applied to ALL selected fields, not just note CV? I am starting to explore using random trigger and mod values in sequences to modulate modules such as the Basimilus Iteritas Alter and Manis Iteritas and having random values across all three track outputs would be amazing. Right now I am doing things manually.

You mean the offline randomization? It has effect on more marked values, not only the notes.

I'm sorry, you are correct, randomize range does affect all of the marked rows/cols if data is present.

I'm looking for a way to randomize BLANK sequences. The feature I am requesting is adding/generating random values to blank rows/col.

My workflow:
1. Create empty pattern
2. Click SHIFT + MARK, then mark everything in the row (NOTE, PATCH, TABLE, TRIG, MOD)
3. Click SHIFT + NERD, select RANDOMIZE and everything selected gets random values.

Ideally, having a RANDOMIZE ALL or RANDOMIZE PATTERN on the pattern's NERD menu would make a much quicker workflow which would be a lot better for live improv OR, add a shortcut to the main sequencer screen as an additional option to new sequence, clone sequence and selecting an existing sequence(select a blank seq slot, hold SHIFT, press OK + LEFT ARROW(or something similar).
