With the mapping I mentioned and then play midi to it, notes will gate as you apply aftertouch, in my case the midi was going via ableton (just echoing in and out, ableton essentially just routing midi from my keyboards to the nerd). If you play without aftertouch or filter it out, it plays normally.

Maybe I'm not understanding what's happening, but when Aftertouch is sending gates, could it be that something is happening with the midi data before it hits the NerdSEQ?
As in Aftertouch and Gate are quite different signals and when Aftertouch effectively emits a Gate that seems wrong somewhere at the source.
Or have I misunderstood you?

Oh I think I see what is happening. And I probably get a different behaviour that you do (I try with a Launchpad Pro which got also the channel aftertouch functionality).
But I see a potential issue which I will fix for the coming maintenance release!
