Understanding ‘Groove’
#1
I was looking through the Dirtywave M8 manual and came across page 71 which shows ‘Common Groove Examples’…

Should these examples directly translate to ‘Groove’ setting in Nerdseq? From the looks of it, ‘6’ appears to be standard groove for both M8 & Nerdseq… not sure if this is common for all trackers? If so, I’m curious if others have found creative uses of ‘Groove’ that work well in tracks. Thanks!

Those do translate directly to the NerdSEQ!
It is often used in trackers but not exclusive to it. This is just a 24ppqn thing exactly like Midi. The main clock (intern or extern) generates 6 ticks per step and that is exactly the groove value. If you set that value to 5 then it will already go to the next step after 5 ticks. Or the other way around.

It is very common for many sequencers but they are not many where you can change the groove to the point.

Ah, thanks for clarifying that behavior, Thomas! I’m having a lightbulb moment now! IdeaRy
