[NO BUG] Midi DIN I/O suddenly stopped working
#1
Hi Thomas,

I have the earlier Din/Gamepad device which suddely stopped working. There was no magic smoke or changes it just stopped sending or recieving midi.
My usual setup uses a controller keyboard for note input and mapped cc's. This has been working well for months/years.

Troubleshooting steps
Checked software cofiguration for keyboard and Nerdseq mid ch 1
Created new project to rule out corruption
Created Midi tracks and monitored connection - nothing
Installed latest firmware
Checked internal ribbon cables seated correctly - swapped out midi ribbon cable
Checked midi cable from controller and controller keyboard via midi monitor - all ok

After all above steps I connected a LaunchPad Pro and had mixed results. LaunchPad showed correct colours and sequencer/ patterns working. However, none of the functions to control Nerdseq worked, start/stop etc.
Connected Nerdseq to computer midi monitor and there was activity.

Question: If this is a hardware fault is there a way to find out if the issue is on the main board or the expander ?

Can you suggest anything else I may not have tried.

Cheers

Sounds like a malfunctioning input.

One simple thing you can try is to sequence anything (some note on and off) on a midi track and connect the midi cable input to the output.
In the Midi setup screen you should see in the statusline the midi notes being sequenced.
If not then it might be indeed a hardware issue. Send me an email then to get that fixed!
PLEASE use the search function if something have been asked or discussed before.

Ok tried the in to out --- I'll send you an email - btw when I said midi out from Nerdseq via computer monitor, it should read NO activity (midi).

Also rest of Nerdseq is working fine with the buttons just no Midi on expander :-(
