My thoughts after 3 years of owning a NerdSeq
#1
As a lucky owner of a NerdSeq, I want to share my experience with this unbelievably versatile tool.

At first, all the settings, possibilities, and the workflow are intimidating. Also, firmware (1.*) was not stable enough, with some annoying crashes now and then. For a year or so, I left it untouched, busy with other things, disappointed and frustrated not being able to integrate it into my workflow and not having fun using it.

However, a few months ago the band started a project, call it a challenge, to finally start making demos of our songs. Time to dust off my NerdSeq; updated the firmware (2.*), printed the manual, and started to lay down simple tracks and structures (outlines). Knowing it was a steep learning curve, I took the manual everywhere and read it 5 or more times from front to end. And you know what? I finally got it. No more crashes so far; knowing what to achieve, what is possible, and how to do it.

Right now I've found inspiration and joy in using my NerdSeq, no more frustrations or crashes so far. As a matter of fact, I think there is still no other hardware sequencer that can do both MIDI and Eurorack in such a flexible, logical way in the end.

The reason why I write this is because I finally mastered a piece of gear that took some time to learn but actually gives me fun while being productive with desired results. No new feature requests here or questions yet, just a simple compliment to xor-electronics (Thomas is it?) for creating such genius piece of gear.

Keep up the good work.

Thanks so much and nice that you enjoy it finally! As I always say...you don't learn the piano in one day :-)

It would be interresting to know what kind of crashes you had. Usually all stable versions (also V1.x) are very stable and if critical bugs come up then they get solved very fast. I need the feedback of course since I don't really have too much time to play around with it myself.

Cheers Thomas :-)
