Midi IO expander
#1
Hello,

I have microcosm hologram pedal I'd like to control through nerdseq.

The signal flow of my midi atm is: nerd out> microcosm in > ableton in, ableton out> microcosm out> nerd in.
I know that is correcrt because ableton does recieve midi messages properly and I've used this for a while in this configuration.

I'd like to control the microcosm pedal cc values with the nerdseq mapping.
However, I'm unsure what to use for the midi out settings on the mapping?
Microcosm midi channel is 8

Thanks

In the mapping you would only need to use the following destination(s):
> MCON TC8 #Controllernumber

This would send everything from the source to the defined Midi CC on Channel 8 for the Microcosm.

Things to consider:
Be aware on how much you send. Using an envelope for example generating the CC values can produce Midi Data overflows and you might need to reduce the data-rate.

You can always send Midi CC from a Midi track of course as well.
PLEASE use the search function if something have been asked or discussed before.

It works! Thank you!!

What had me confused is that I thought TC would be for the trs expander? And I have the I\O expander just with the gampepad and din in\out..
For future refrence, would be able to explain in what situations I use TC,Host, and Device? I tried to read the manual but couldnt wrap my head around it.

In NerdSeq term, the TCXX is addressing the first physical MIDI port. Either the port on the original expanders (DIN or TRS) or the first port on the Multi I/O. With the Multi I/O there are two additional physical ports. The host and device are addressed with HCXX or DCXX. The use case for the extra ports is that you’re able to address more MIDI devices. 48 channels across three ports with the Multi I/O.

Gotcha
Thank you so much for your reply

In fact nearly everywhere it says DIN/TRS at least also in the statusline. The 4 letters are not enough to allow more then TCxx.
