Offline Editor For Project Files (*.NRD)
#1
Hi Everyone,
This has been mentioned in another thread and has been acknowledged by XORAdmin as something that could potentially one day see the light of day.  I just noticed that it was not mentioned here in the Feature Requests section, so I wanted to give it a solid base here.

Here is a link to the original topic created in the General Questions area:

An offline editor for the *.NRD hex files would be very useful for creating and modifying my projects.  Currently, you can open the project file in a hex editor like HxD and see a few things, but modifying this file is a bit confusing and will potentially damage the project if not done right.

I would love the ability to simply be able to add, rename, copy, and modify patterns and sequences.  It also would be awesome to be able to lay out the table on the sequencer screen to more quickly organize large live sets.

Don't get me wrong, the interface on the Nerdseq is really well done and I love it.  There could just be a little time savings done when polishing up some tracks and sets.  Smile

Thank you!

I will for sure release the save file format at some point. But i think i will never write an external editor. That would be the task of someone else then. Not that i can't do this, but it just takes too much time which i really want to spend in further development for the NerdSEQ, it's expanders and other products i need to make to survive.
Anyway and external big screen editor would definitely be cool!

Oh for sure. I bet the community would definitely be into that. Even if it was a text file that was easily edited with a nice text editor, that would be awesome. Thank you so much for responding and great job with the NerdSeq, it is an amazing piece of my rig. Smile

I could look into this - I'm not an expert in programming but I could look into making a very basic viewer/editor considering a lot of the main values are just normal hex values. Presuming it's not compressed or obfuscated in any way, of course

hi admin,
still lookin forward to this..
what about "accidentially" releasing some documentation of the project file, without creating too much expectation about your involvement or help for community projects?

Yeah, I would still love this, but I can see it not being a priority at all.

Ha i made a start, but it is much more difficult than i thought. Many parameters and stuff and if one is wrong, things can break directly.
