Midi Track Prelisten
#1
Hi,

In the CV tracks when I use midi recording i hear the notes as i play, but in the new midi track i can record but i'm not hearing what im playing. only after it loops back around I can hear what i played.

this makes it very hard to record a sequence and i don't think this behaviour is meant this way?

my midi is routed as following:

Deepmind 12 out > Octatrack in

Octatrack out > Nerdseq in

Nerdseq out > Digitone in

Then I use the midi sequencer in Octatrack to route midi back to the deepmind or through to the nerdseq to the digitone.

Anything that I'm missing?

Huh

I'm updating and testing tomorrow. Will be trying this out myself.
The new manual says MIDI recording is limited to the first note at the moment - is it recording polyphonically?

It will only record monophonic. But i guess i didn't add the fact that you can also listen to the midi notes while recording.

Will be there with the first fixes (if they are any, else this will be the fix).

Polyphonic recording into midi track is planned for a future release.

ah great, dank!

is it possible to stack recordings and in that way record polyphonic in a few passes? or will it record in the first note only?

Now it’s into 1 note monophonic. Soon it will be into the 4 notes polyphonic.

yes i understand, but what i mean is if i would first monophonically record for instance a c-4 on step 1, and the next pass i record a e-4 on step 1 would it overwrite the c-4 or would it add the e-4 on one of the other 4 polyphonic notes?

i would try this out myself obviously, if i wouldn't be at work! so sorry for the stupid questions.

Oh i see, you mean right now.
Recording is currently only to note 1. But what you can do is record to note1, copy to note 2, delete from note 1 and record the next layer.
I think it should easy be possible on the fly.

..to be improved.
