I've recently stumbled upon needing exactly this feature.  In mGB, as I've discovered in my work, velocity controls a voice's amplitude, and I believe this to be a very common use of velocity among MIDI implementations.  Unfortunately there's no CC equivalent of velocity for control of per-voice volume in mGB, nor do I think this is at all common in other implementations (I could be mistaken on that last point, though I think global, per-channel volume is generally as good as it gets).  My specific need would be the ability to supply envelopes through any of the four analog inputs and have them quantized to a given gate's velocity.
