More CV Expander?
#41
ah now i found it in the manual sorry!

CV A to CV H → Change the CV value. The most left digit Xxxx defines the CV output 1 to 16 and the three right side digits xXXX define the CV value/pitch from 000 to FFF.
NT A to NT H → Change the Note. The 2nd left digit xXxx defines the CV output 1 to 16 and the two right digits xxXX define the note value.

i use NT E 06 6C for a C-9 note on the 7th output

sorry for the inconvenience

No worries. I understand that the FX here are a bit more cryptic than usual. But thats also why i added the deeper explanation in the statusbar for all the codes. So you check the manual once until you get it and then probably never again ;-)

They are not really more cryptic, there is just a lot more of them now.

Hi, I've just received the CV 16 expander and read the new part of the manual about 5 times and I'm really confused on how to use & program the expander.

Let's say I want to do the following:

Keep my 6 existing tracks that each output CV/Trigger/MOD (for 6 voices) and then I want to add one further Note out for each track (with the additional Note out being output by the CV expander)

How do I do this?

I'm able to get the trigger output to send something using the TT8 but I'm completely lost as to how to program the original CV & MOD outputs for that track and then add the additional Note output on the expander. Off course I'd like to expand on this but I want to start simple and use the original CV/Trigger/MOD outputs for each track and then supplement them with the additional CV outputs of the expander.

It says on the manual 'Also each column can be assigned to a different destination. The destinations can be set in the CV16 Setup Screen' - I couldn't find the CV16 setup screen anywhere??

Any help is greatly appreciated as I've spent over an hour and got really nowhere (except for changing the tracks from 'Modular' to 'NSA1: MORE CV 16').

Thanks in advance

You set the Track indeed to MORE CV16 and then don't forget to press SET.

Then the track itself gets a different kind of pattern screen and from there you can manipulate the CV16 stuff and all the local stuff as well. Once the track is assigned, then you also can get to the CV16 setup screen by either using the Nerd button on the track in the sequencer screen or in the track assign screen.

It is not possible to reach the expanders from the local CV/GATE tracks but only the other way around.

I will do a online video stream explaining the CV 16 expander and a Q&A.

Thanks - so I finally found the 'CV Setup screen' ... just for the benefit of other users you get to the 'CV setup screen' by first moving the cursor onto the track (that you have already assigned as 'NSA1: MORE CV 16' in the 'Track Assign' page accessed by pressing the 'Project' button) then press SHIFT+NERD button, this pops up an new window, scroll down to the 'Track Setup' options and press OK and you are now in the 'CV Setup screen'.

Once you there you can set what the 6 columns destination is - so in my case I set column 1 & 2 ('Destination 1 & 2') to `TRACK_CV' & 'TRCK_MOD' and then column/destination 3 = EXT CV1 and that allowed me to use the original CV & MOD outputs and the CV1 output for sending Notes, LFOs or envelopes.

I'm slowly figuring out how this works ...

Yes the track setup is common for all tracks like this. But it can also be entered in the track assign screen. Just press OK on the track you want to setup (once the assignment has been done)

As for the first, keep in mind that you have 6 columns (+3 fx) available per track.
So that would need 2 tracks to get 8+8.

And 2nd, the envelopes can be set to 0 attack and 0 release and if you set it also to half sustain, then you got your regular gate on/off.

And for recording, you can record in different ways into the 6 columns.
With Midi either up to 6 voices into the columns. Or up to 5 voices plus an envelope in the last column. (First note on -> attack sustain and last note off -> envelope release) or also real polyphonic so each note sets also it’s own envelope. That can then be up to 3 CV + 3 Envelope polyphonic.

Hello Thomas,

I'm exploring the polyphonic capability of cv16 expander. After i 've seen your superbooth 2020 video.
I've a little sequence running on midi channel 1.
On the track setup i choose 3 record voices.
Out 1 to 3 are patch to VCO's, all is ok the sequence is running alternativly to the 3 VCOs.
Then i try to obtain some envelope, so i choose 3+envO  for record voices.
then only cv1 is playing one note among three. cv2 an 3 didn't do anything and the differents CV of my seaquence seems to be on the others cv out but as fix values.
I cant't figure how and where i can obtain the envelop.
Then if i go back to 3 record voices, only the CV1 is correctly functionning. CV2 and CV3 don't do anything.
I have to reset the nerseq to obtain "normal" behavior.

I assume you turned on the envelopes on these columns. They overrule then if you set it like this.
Simply stop the envelopes by choosing either stop all sounds from the Nerd menu or press again shift+stop on a stopped sequencer. That will release the envelopes again from the columns.
3CV+ envelope should work well
You can always see on top of the columns if either a envelope or a LFO is running on it.

Thank you Thomas for your answer.
I eventually manage to obtain something very cool.
It was not obvious Big Grin
Tell me if i'm wrong, but in 3CV+3env, the 3 CV are 1,2,3 and the 3 envelop are 4 5 6, and the tricky part is that the envelops are all three related to the envelop number 8 in the track setup ?
PS : i had from time to time some stuck notes using this method
