My favourite user error is the voltage switch of the output. If the switch is to the left it is -5V to +5V. In that case a note of e.g. C-2 sends out -3V which for my VCOs results in inaudible sound (8Hz). Flipping the switch to the right it becomes 0V to +10V and C-2 sends +2V which is about 256Hz on my system (i.e. the way I tune my VCOs).
Your envelopes probably would react on the range of -5V to +5V too (mine do).
Not sure that's what happens to you but it surely happens to me regularly.
For the record:
I have used Columns 1-5 to feed a chord into my Odessa (+HEL) and I know it works.
