substep offset

could you display the sum of all groove values minus 6*64 in pattern view?
to help me prevent patterns from running away

Whats the exact plan behind this? It would only make sense for 6*64 step patterns and only if you play them fully. When changing the groove while editing + playing it wouldn't work. Also when using any other groove than 6 it would also being always incorrect. I would then prefer the full 6*64=384 = 180 hex which is your main guide then. And then only when the cursor is on the groove column, because there is some more basic information i want to show in the pattern screen.

Guess now i finally found out that this could be used for something else than creating swing ..
But i also meant that the sum of all substeps should be 384 which is of course meaningless for patterns just running another speed as i can see now.
So displaying just the sum would be perfectly useful then?
I like that with the cursor.

Not sure if whether this is possible, but a sum of the active steps, being displayed as a total discrepencies rather than the sum would be even more helpful. Especially when using the BRK fx. So for example:

8 active steps Groove value "6" would equal a sum of 48, output would be "0"
8 active steps Groove value "5" would equal a sum of 40, output would be "-8"
8 active steps Groove value "7" would equal a sum of 56, output would be "+8"

In that case you'd know exactly where to add or cut offset to get the pattern sync to the master sequence (output 0) again, or create even more complex polyrythms, working with multiplications of -6 / +6.

Don't know whether this makes sense Smile

I am still not convinced and not sure about the best solution for this.
When i will add specials like backwards playing, jump to step or the FX probability, then these numbers are useless again. And i think 95% stay at the stable 6 anyway.

Got to think more about it.

That makes sense!

Hmm :/

Will features like backwards play, random play, jump to step etc be added in the next update by the way? Big Grin

Ho, the next update got the jump functions (and much more stuff).

Backwards and random need some more attention, though it is easy to add backward and random playing, but i have much more that just that in my head for it!

Now leave me alone as i need to finish this update ;-) Scheduled for today if all is fine!
