Still other things to do first. Sorry for the waiting.

No worries. There is a post from April 2020 that says the i2c expander is still in its conceptual phase and not actually on the latest road map (at least it's not explicitely mentioned on the list). Since you are refering to that thread I assume that hasn't changed. Okay, good to know I wasn't missing information... Take all the time you need.

Haha, just kidding. The current roadmap is like this:

- bugfixes for things that came up with the latest release
- something cool new which will be added with the bugfix release
- sega gamepad full support (yeah)
- video expander (including a USB port, but it is not the USB midi port for the launchpad that you might thing of)
- dualchord
- USB midi expander
The latter 2 might change in order.

Actually, the I2C expander works, but the issue is here, how should the screens look like? In the end i am still limited per track with a dedicated amount of columns / possibilities. One Idea was to have the 6 columns like the CV16 for Notes/Pitch, a drummatrix, 2FX, patch, groove. That then per assigned track which gives quite some internal patchpoints to I2C.

Sounds awsome to me. I d'say: go for it! Many people would find this just fine, including myself.
Cheers.

I'm just dropping another line here to let you know I2C would still be an awesome expander! I want to ditch my cables!!

It definitely would be!

If the i2c adapter is coming then I will come back to the nerdseq and get another one.

Will there be an i2c header on the rear of the expander and an i2c jack on the front to allow the use of a 16n or other devices?

Brilliant, then you could have a faderbank i2c into the nerdseq, and then from nerdseq go to the er-301?

Something I dont know about i2c, are inputs and outputs differentiated? You mention there are two i2c ports on the pcb side of the expander.  I ask because I have a Michigan synth works F8R, I was considering something along the look of:

F8R --> Nerdseq --> ER-301

thanks,

edit: sorry I dont know how to quote people properly, im responding to this:

That is indeed one of the plans.
Gear -> NerdSEQ -> Gear
or
NerdSEQ -> 2x Gear

And the input gear could be used to either control the nerdseq or have merged signals to the output.

brilliant.  And then on the top part you have your usb midi ports, Will it be enough to use a launch pad and also control outboard synths? or would I need a midi expander too.
