The Launchpad Thread
#51
You could also use free software like MIDIOX to route the launchpad data to your NerdSeq through a USB MIDI interface, saves some hassle. Or a MIDI interface with USB MIDI host like the mio10. Smile

Hello here, I think I am ready to get launchpad to try with my Nerdseq, but still doubting which version should I pick.
Can you tell me which launchpad is the best to go with Nerdseq in 2021 please?

Hi Forum,

I'm kind of intrigued by what I've seen w/r to launchpad and Trigger 16. Reminds me of the Tiptop Audio Circadian Rhythm - at least UI wise.

Contemplating what to get I narrowed my choices down to two options:
- Launchpad Pro MK3
- Launchpad Mini MK3

My impression is, both can be made working with the NerdSEQ.

Now for the difficult part:
Which one to choose? Smile

The Mini most likely does all I currently want. However the Pro has 16 (2x8) additional Buttons. Would they be used by NerdSEQ?

The other feature that distinguishes the Pro from the Mini is the former is velocity and pressure sensitive. Is that something the NerdSEQ does recognize/record?

Last not least I prefer the smaller footprint of the Mini. And of course the Pro is about 3x the price of the Mini.

Has anybody of you guys experience with either or both of these units and is willing to share them?
What is your take on the question Mini or Pro?

Kind regards,
Michael

In this thread discussed, Mini MK3 doesn't have regular midi ports so it would need a USB Midi adapter.
No one knows yet if that would work. It doesn't for me out of the box but with routing via PC it works, so there is hope.

Additional buttons will most probably be never supported since I want to keep the use for all the same
Velocity and Aftertouch are things the nerdSEQ can do, but these are just regular midi things and not launchpad specific. And also here, I aim to have them all the same.

If you don't use it for your Ableton or whatever then I advice to get the old LP Pro. It has the Midi ports and works out of the box and is cheap these days.

Hello everyone!

This is my first post here!
I'm a happy owner of a Nerdeq for a few months, and I understand overall how to work with it (but hey this thing is powerful, so I don't really understand all of it yet!)

I am trying to set up my Nerdseq with a launchpad mini.
Nerdseq is updated to 1.23.
I connected the Nerseq to the LP mini via a mio 10.
Connection between the devices is live: I see when I add new patterns or when I change colors.

However:

the patterns are located at weird positions in the grid (example first pattern of track 1 is at 5th row, 6th column on the LP, 3rd pattern of track 1 is at second row second column)
the command via the pads of the LP do not behave as expected.
The jump command works, but the other commands do not.

I have the feeling that there is a gap between the midi values between both devices, but I can't understand it.
Is there any setting that I could try ?

Any advice is welcome,

Cheers!

Still trying to integrate Launchpad mini mk1.

So I have been looking at it some more.
I have been playing a little bit in the pattern screen, to try to understand.
I am able to insert or remove triggers.
However the layout of the Nerdseq does not match the pads of the launchpad.

example: I put a triger on :
step 00, it appears on matrix, row 6 column 2
step 01 matrix, row 6 column 3
step 02 matrix, row 6 column 4
step 03 matrix, row 6 column 5
step 04, matrix, row 6 column 6
step 05 matrix, row 6 column 7
step 06 matrix, row 6 column 8
step 07 out of matrixt button F in the manual
step 08 matrix, row 5 column 8
step 09 out of matrix (E in the manual)
step 10 nowhere
step 11 nowhere
step 12 nowhere
step 13 nowhere
step 14 nowhere
step 15 nowhere
step 16 out of matrix (D in the manual)
step 17 nowhere
step 18 nowhere
step 19 matrix, row 5 column 1
step 20 matrix, row 5 column 2
step 21 matrix, row 5 column 2
...

So basically, I guess that there is simply some difference between the mapping of the midi numbers in the LP and in the Nerdseq.
As is it's not really usable, I can't locate some buttons like stop or shift...

If anyone knows any setting that I should change to map the two devices on the same reference ?

I'm also curious to read current feedback or people here around. Can someone confirm that the integration with the LP pro is easy to work with ?
I really would like to get this to work, and I'm thinking that I can buy a LP pro. But I'm worried about buying it and finding out that I can't get it to work!

Cheers everyone!

I actually started the LP implementation with the Mini. So it definitely worked well.
Maybe a dumb question, but did you set the settings also to LP Mini?

I will connect it again tomorrow and see if it behaves as it used to be. The difference with the LP Pro is that the Pro got all the colours, but functional they are both the same.

Hi there!
Thanks for taking time to reply!

I tested the 3 possible settings (mini, pro, mk2).
In pattern screen, when I change the setting the color change, I think nothing else changes.

Cheers from Belgium!

Oh i checked the mini now and it seems that it is broken since like 2 years.
I mainly used the normal sized mk2 or pro later on (since they have all the colours and the midi doesn't), so i never realised that. I will do an update in this release candidates and then it will work again. Should be today or tomorrow'ish.
Sorry for the trouble.
