track clock not working?
#1
i am trying to change the track clock. if i go to the nerd menu i can set it, it changes, but as soon as i move the cursor away, or enter the pattern it changes to normal.
using the track setup doesn't work. too. fx SCLK doesn't do anything either.

i am using an external clock but with the internal i have no success, too.how exactly does this work?

i found this thread (https://xor-electronics.com/forum/showth...hp?tid=379) where it is explained that the sclk should be set at the end of a pattern. this works.
now i'd just like to know, why setting it at the beginning doesn't work? wouldn't it make sense to be able to set it anywhere in the pattern?

Setting the clock either through the Nerd menu or track setup should work normal but it takes effect when the new pattern starts. When you change it while the track is not playing it will change directly and the next pattern will play with the new scale setting. The same for the sclk command. It takes effect at the point when the next pattern starts. There is a good reason for that, because if it would change directly you would be out of sync with this track compared to the others. So this takes care (as well as the order of dividers/multipliers) that you even while playing stay in sync.
Putting the SCLK at the begin or end of the pattern is just a choice of people. There is a discussion that it should work already on the current pattern, but in fact, when the FX command is being read, the current pattern is already running with it’s current scale. And that makes it very tricky.

hm. using the nerd menu and track setup is not working for me. no matter if i start the sequencer before or after changing it. using sclk at the end of the pattern works . i think these are things one has to get used to.

the module is very deep and complex Smile i am lucky i found it and it is a lot of fun to use already while scratching the surface

There is no issue here. It works, i just tested it. It takes effect when the new pattern starts and the fact that it is in the begin, in the middle or at the end of a track doesn't matter. In all cases the new clock setting is active with the new next pattern.
I'm sure it works also for you! Try again Smile

very strange. i am on the nerd page right now. go to track clock normal. shift + left sets to /2 and as soon as i go up in the menu that value changes back to normal. sadly my camera doesn't work so i can record it.

at first i thought it was because i had a SPFX 00A on the first step but after deleting that effect it still happens. dunno. not that i need this feature right now, i am just testing stuff

edit: i recorded the behaviour with my mobile: http://tempfiles.earthcontrol.de/20191214_191138.mp4

Hmm thats weird and i see what you do.
Are you 100% sure that none of the FX columns reset the clock settings again?

yes. there is only the brk 000 at step 0F.. but out of curiosity i created a new empty pattern on that track, put that to play and now it works. i have no idea? really. there is no effect in that first pattern where it failed to accept the clock setting Big Grin guess it is the ghost in the machine or some weirdness of dancing electrons

here you go. it is in track1, pattern 06. if i play that one and try to change the clock setting the behaviour from the video shows up.

OK, good thanks.
You have a SPFX command there : Reset all Track FX, which also resets the Clock settings continuous.

The reset Track FX is a command to set all track settings to default again and the clock settings belong to that.
