Best way to use track division
#11
Still i don’t really get the issue.
When you use live playing (eg freely select the patterns you want to play), then you can also simply choose the clock on the fly.
When you have a song arrangement, then you are kind of using it fixed anyway and then it should be no big problem to choose the next pattern to play another clock.
Worst case you clone a pattern if it doesn’t match perfect to your sequences.
And with other sequencers you would set a pattern fixed to a clock as you say then...which also needs an extra pattern if you also want to play it normal.

I think comparing doesn’t really make sense since with the NerdSEQ the pattern arrangement is different and there is not only 1 pattern for all tracks, but they are loose.
I actually had even 2 extra clock settings in mond. One for the pattern and one for the sequencer field!

For what it’s worth, for me there’s no big issue, rather just some people’s potential features for the never-ending list. Wink

The patterns being “loose” as you mentioned is actually one of the many great NerdSEQ features that drew me to it. I can imagine a few ways that various levels of clock division/multiplication could interplay with that and I’m sure that, wherever you take the NerdSEQ in relation to this clocking topic, you’ll do what serves the NerdSEQ ethos best.

(By the way, enjoy your vacation!)

I think it's possible to get a lot of the same division/multiplication effects by using grooves to make patterns clock in a more funky way. Like having a chunk with 2's and changing it to a chunk of 10's or whatever. Then if things get out of hand, find the beat and throw in a break command. Instant jazz. B)

And actually! Probably setting the groove column to all 3’s would effectively make a pattern play at 2* rate, solving the issue I had with changing ’islands’ in the first place! Thanks for this Smile

Setting the global groove setting also will fill new patterns with these groove settings :-)

Sweet! I'm glad I could be of use. c: I've been using LSDJ for a while and Groove is a really essential tool for sound design because of the limitations. I'd say that the groove counter in the NerdSeq is a huge bonus in that respect. It's really easy to make things work properly even though the groove is super wack. :j
