Moved from Bugreports: Probability with 0%
#1
Hi!

I have a MIDI track on track 6, with steady notes on note lane 1.

I have a Note 1 probability setting on FX 1.

Additionally, I have an Automation where input 1 affects Note 1 probability on track 6.

As I adjust the offset connected to input 1, I can see the indicator moving from the bottom to the very top, but even if the offset is at zero, some notes still get through.

I can adjust the Note 1 probability setting as low as 0014, and have the offset set to zero, and some notes still get through occasionally.

It seems like it's not reliable to get all the notes to be played, either.

EDIT:
I tried things like
  • Throttling MIDI automation (in hopes of eliminating some CV spikes if there are any)
  • Changing the calibration of said CV input (raising the 0 point)
I'm on 1.2.0.

From as far as i remember the probabilities are adding and scaled. And that can be positive and negative values.
So if you have 14,then the current automator value must be (scaled) 14 in negative to have 0%.
If probability is set to 1% and the offset and range is set so it uses only the positive values and crosses the 0. Then it should be 0% around the zero crossing and up to 100% on the highest point.

There seem to be no offset or range settings for the CV Inputs yet. I did actually try sending negative voltage to the input. Ah well, maybe there’s some way to get it working, will need to look further.

I wouldn't put negative voltage on the inputs. They are defined to allow voltages between 0 and 10 Volt.

As for the CV inputs range. 0 volt is the lowest negative value and 10 volt is the highest positive value (as you can see in the automator pointer).
5 Volt is the middle. So everything below 5 volt will be subtracted from the current probability setting and everything higher 5 volt will be added.

Actually after checking i got to correct myself. The lowest probability is also 1% with the automators.
0% is not part of the probabilities either with the automators or as normal FX value.

Thank you for checking! Having 0 and 100% as options would allow the user to control the stream of triggers using CV - from no triggers to the full pattern. I find it to be a very performance-friendly thing, so I’m hoping it will be considered for inclusion on your undoubtedly very long list of things. Thanks!

I will move it to the feature requests then.
