Various tracks orders for modular pattern ( from left to right )
#1
Hi !
From my ( thorough enough ? ) research, it doesn't seem it has been requested yet so ...

The modular type pattern may certainly be the most used screen I guess so it would be nice to have some choices of layouts for more efficient tweaking depending of what you favor ...

Currently I don't understand the position of table and patch which are inserted between the physical outputs colunms, I will name this block as " outputs " ( CV - Trig - Mod ) because I really badly compute a track inserted in this logical physical layout.

Ideally per project, you could have modular layout's choices like :

outputs - table - patch - FX
outputs - FX - table - patch
table - outputs - patch- FX ( could be my future favorite )
etc ... ( I don't see outputs on the far right so that should limit the permutations )

Currently I'am still a Nerdseq intern so I haven't found my ways around but I foresee "themed" projects with more emphasis on certain elements so if they are regrouped that will make the editing clickless as possible ...  Smile

And you did your research well Smile I can't remember anything about the order yet (except for when prototyping new pattern screens).

But i can already tell you that there will be only one fixed kind of screen order and it can only stay like this.
Mostly because of memory and all the extra work i had to put in it to make it usable. The different fields have a different length and i can't just swap them around.
Of course it is possible, but it would bring so much work to make it customizable that i can tell you it is not worth to have that instead of other cool features...and this is only one pattern screen...they are 5 currently (counting the CV16 with it) and more coming...

Ok, I understand !
If just only Note could have been shifted right to group with Trig and Mod initially that would have made my day !  Sad
Working vertically track per track will be the most effective solution for me instead of horizontal sweeps because I doubt I'll will make a massive use of patch and table...

Even shifting the notes to the right will bring still the same problems.
Don't underestimate the patches. They can be very powerfull with different uses. But i agree that the order is maybe not the best.
So where have you been 3 years ago when i was thinking about all this? ;-)

Unfortunatly I came back to eurorack just a couple years ago  Tongue
Also I bought it only when the new fonts were announced to be implemented, couldn't deal with the original blocky one ! ( like some Make Noise faceplates )
I don't underestimate the patches at all, on the contrary, like some FX that can affect other tracks, I just wonder how users / requesters wield them  !

For instance if patch 01 affect 3 notes, 2 Trig, 4 Mod on various tracks, how to avoid collisions with other tracks patterns ?
Either you make a patch centric project or limited influence patches ...

This is my problem as a newbie : plenty of powerful tools embedded in a russian dolls layout and I can't see the big picture ...

Well I won't complain because it's the only valid eurorack sequencer I can relate to, but I doubt I'll ever be a Nerdseq Jedi !
