Sample Conversion
#11
I use Wavosaur to do all the conversions and haven't had any issues. I've done that using the normal conversions under the "
Process" menu, and, done that using Wavosaur's built in batch processing. For working with a single sample, saving (or save as) will save it as the format you've converted to in the program (i.e., the conversion isn't done via the save dialog).

For the loads of drum samples I've converted, I've used the batch processing like this:

  1. simple dc remover
  2. convert to mono 50% 50% (if the samples are stereo)
  3. normalize to 0dB
  4. auto trim at -50dB
  5. resample to 22.5kHz
  6. convert to 8 bits

I haven't had any artifacts at the end other than a bit of fizz from long cymbal sounds, which really can't be avoided at 8 bit. Wavosaur's batch resample is without a filter or interpolation, so there is sometimes a bit of aliasing, but that seems to work in favor of drum samples (in my opinion).
