Static recording mode.

Just imagine that every mod value where you move the cursor would be filled in with the potentiometer value.
Then every step would be filled in when navigating. Isn’t that a bad side effect?

Not if you have to confirm the order of changing values with the "shift" key as you do to choose between the "move" and "values" functions of the nerdseq arrows.

So you mean pressing 'shift' should 'fill in' the value that is currently on the CV input?

Yes, we would just have to position the cursor on the step on which we want to enter a value, press "shift" and manipulate the potentiometer of the offset generator until the desired value is obtained. Exactly as you can do with the arrows, but with the ease of a potentiometer. in fact, "shift" would enable the ability to edit the value with the offset.

I understand. But that would completely remove the normal editing which relies on SHIFT and that is not an option.
I also can't think of any other key combination right now which could be used.

Yes, sorry that it doesn't match the current usage.
However, if you got good ideas for that with an eye on the current usage, then always feel free to let me know.

Fluky timing! I was just finishing up breakfast and about to reply and then saw XORadmin [EDIT: Both of you, in fact. Talk about timing! Smile ] had just done so. Here’s what I was going to say, just to put in my two bits:

Personally, and this might just be me though I suspect it would also affect others, I too often press shift tentatively, almost reflexively, release it, and then do something else (often involving navigation.)

I am liking the idea of supporting a combo of a single CV input and some buttons on the NerdSEQ, rather than requiring a CV gate, but I think it would have to be a key combo. Critically, I think this would need to be a key combo easy to hit with either hand without requiring the use of both.

From XORadmin’s reply, though, it seems like a momentary gate is going to be your best/only option.

If I had any idea what to do and what not to do with the way the nerdseq works right now, I would love to, but I really don't know anything about it. I just plug in cables and turn knobs. Big Grin And it's because I've been a Renoise user since 2006/2007 that I like having a soundtracker in my modular.

Ohmrun, do you have a momentary gate somewhere in your setup? There are a range of good ones, even some that put a combination of switches, pots, gates, latches, etc. all on one relatively small panel complete with inputs so some of them can act as attenuators when they are not just being voltage sources. Some with arcade buttons, if you like that feel, some that are just super-low-HP in case you have no other need for that function, etc.

Here’s a quick example, just to get the juices flowing. I don’t own this, to be fair, and so cannot vouch for it specifically.

No, I don't have one, but I think about it, I looked a little at what was done in 1U on modulargrid. Maybe I'll make up my mind one day.
