Muting notes, trigs, etc. in the pattern screen?

Still not exactly sure what you mean. But having ranges for special things in patterns ( and think about all possible functions and not only muting) is impossible memorywise.

If I’m reading Kubase correctly, they would like to mute/solo marked cells (or whole rows, which might be easier to reason about) in patterns, as if those cells/rows (or all but them) had been deleted.

And to do something similar in the sequencer screen, though I suspect the most desirable result there might be for the sequencer to skip muted cells/rows or treat a set of consecutive soloed cells as if their own island.

Still that is simply impossible. Just imagine, if i would be able to have marked ranges for every cell (for every pattern), that would mean i need exactly the same amount of memory of what every cell needs now (well best case 1/8th of it with smart programming (and it's included overhead)).

This memory is not available, and if it would be, i would use it to add more columns to the patterns rather than this.

I definitely can’t disagree with you there, not least because you code the thing but because if anything were possible I too would prefer additional columns. Kubase’s idea does sound neat, though.
