Multiple different controllers have been tested and work well.
All buttons work perfect for me...

* UPDATE to V1.23A *
- Bugfix for a possible crash with the Retrigger command in the audio tracks when there was no sample loaded yet
- Improved Envelope triggering and retriggering from the audio tracks
- Slightly change of the Sega Gamepad readout timing
- Midi cursor recording will either insert a trigger or only note on/off depending on autogate setting
- Fixed Table tick offset from automators which works now with the zero offset as it suppose to do

Hello, i just received a "retro-bit 6 buttons arcade controller" and only a,b,c and start buttons are working.
I tried with both 1.23 and 1.23A.
In the gamepad setup screen when i press x,y,z,or "mode" nothings happens, i dont see the small blinking star in front of this buttons rows.
Did i miss anything i have to do or it should work directlly after the upgrade?

Slightly OT but does anyone else have trouble instigating the soft reset? Have had this issue with the last few firmwares.
ahh sussed, need to press cursor right, rather than ok or shift plus something etc.

I don't know. It is reported to work by other users. Maybe you got to enable 6 button mode with some special setup on the pad itself?

I dont think the gamepad is in 3 buttons mode because in this case x,y,z buttons should act like a,b,c in the games (and i dont think anyway this gamepad have different modes)
Now they are just doing absolutly nothing...
On my gamepad pcb its writen "REV:A 2017/9/16" (in case somebody opened he's and can comfirm at least rev a near this date working...)
Unfortunatly i dont have a game that use the six buttons buttons to try it on the megadrive , so i cannot be shure is it the gamepad the problem or not...
How possible it could be to be a hardware problem on my specific NerdSeq or adapter? Any easy (and safe) way i could test this by switching two diferent pins on the controller or something like this?
its very frustrating and now i dont know if i should get another controller, im affraid to have the same issue again...

Your NerdSEQ and Midi expander is fine. Else UP/DOWN/LEFT/RIGHT wouldn't work which use the same pin as XYZ and Mode.
Your gamepad doesn't react on the 6 button request. Why, I don't know. Could be that the gamepad doesn't react well. Could be a timing thing. Original Sega, 8BitDO and other user reported Retro-Bit work well.
Which retro-bit did you get exactly and where from? If i can get my hands on one, I can debug and see if i can get it running as well. (I assume you got the Sega Master System/Genesis one)
BTW, some of the controllers got shoulder buttons, but they have no extra function with any sega things, but can only be mapped for PC related controlling or to the regular buttons. Sega gamepads doesn't allow anything more than Start/ABC/XYZ and Mode. And they can stay in 3 or 6 button mode, depending on the way they are interfaced.

Thank you for the fast answer.
What a relief to know its not coming from the NerdSeq side!

I got mine from there, its a regular wired Megadrive 6 buttons Retro-Bit.
Its out of stock now but also exist in blue, i dont know if the two versions are working exactly the same(but i guess so...)
Im quite shure this is the model that other users have reported working.
Edit: i just realise that it also exist this version that is indeed the Genesis version, and the one i got is the Megadrive version
(its supposed to be the same console and same controllers but maybe still have a slight difference...)
Edit again: im investigating a bit more and my guess is that the Genesis run at 60Hz and the Megadrive does run at 50Hz so this could explain the timing issue...
Anybody here had luck with Megadrive controllers on NerdSeq?
(Maybe we should move this posts in the gamepad thread as its not really related to the firmware at the end? sorry about that)
If i am the only one reporting issue with this exact model, i guess mine is defectuous and have a issue with 6 buttons mode...
I gonna try to hook it up to an arduino and see if i can get it to work in 6 buttons mode, if so i will let you know.
Else i gonna get another one and pray for it to work
Thanks!

I just ordered the blue one (since i also couldn't get the black one easily) in the hope it acts exactly the same. I will know mid-week.
But i don't think 50/60hz would be any issue. I have original Megadrive and Genesis controllers which both work well.
